Of those listed on the various rolls of honour shown on the main page, we have so far been unable to identify in which unit the following served. And, in some cases, we have been unable to identify these people at all.
If any reader has any information which would help us transfer someone on this page to the list of ‘the known’, we would be extremely grateful (please let us know in the comments below).

Sidney Lloyd Cook (1880-1961), Frank George Cook (1886-1961) and Reginald Harry Cook (1897-1977) were the sons of Henry Cook and Alice Wells Goodyear. They also had a daughter Emily Amelia (1884-1951) who married Edward Albert Vine. All these Cooks were born at St Mary Bourne.
Many thanks for this. I do indeed ‘know’ who the three Cook boys are, in that I have them as the sons of Henry and Alice, and I have already noted that he is the brother of Frank and Reginald. (Though Emily’s marriage is new to me, many thanks). The reason he is still in the list of ‘unknowns’ is that I have not been able to establish beyond all doubt in which unit he served. Can you help us over this?
Reference the three Cook boys regiments, I can not help with the identification but if you are interested I have a photograph of Sidney Lloyd Cook in his uniform.
Regarding George Goodyear (my grandfather), he was born in 1887 and enlisted into the 1st Life Guards in early 1915, being discharged in 1920. His regimental number was 4116.
